Another historic moment?

So there were two historic moments this week. One that will be cherished for a long time which is Barack Obama becoming the president of US. The other one was today when Microsoft announced its first ever official layoff. Its a sad day that some people in the company will be laid off in the worst possible market conditions. My sincere best wishes to them and I pray that hopefully one day they can look back and say, "whatever happened happened for good". So whenever somebody mentions about the historic moment of Barack Obama getting elected this story of layoff will come to my mind :(.

Tax rebate

Got the tax rebate today. Thanks Bush & IRS for giving me $1500 back!

I got lucky because my wife also has a SSN number. She did not have it last year when we filed using her ITIN number. There is a rule that if one of the dependents file using ITIN number then they don't get the rebate :(. I feel sorry for those guys.

Watched newly released hindi movie Welcome

I watched the hindi movie, "Welcome" today. It is a pretty good comedy movie. Here in Burlington NJ, they show Hindi movies by leasing halls in a multiplex primarily showing English movies. Good change from seeing hindi movies in Totem lake cinema in Seattle which is the worst place to watch movies :). It was ironic because they used to do this in Dallas too (i.e. leasing halls in a good multiplex to show hindi movies) and the last movie I saw there was "No Entry" which was also directed by Anees Bazmi who made this movie Welcome which I saw today. Man 2 and a half years back I never imagined that I will ever visit a place called Burlington in New Jersey to see his next movie. I wonder if it is in anyway related to Burlington Coat Factory though!

Sacremento trip

Guys, I will be in Sacremanto from Saturday (04/28/2007) to Tuesday morning. Plan to meet Azam bhai and also Moiz there.

If you are planning to be in Sacremanto during that time and we have not met for atleast 5 months now then please let me know, I would very much like to meet with you.

Sprained neck

Warning: This can only be enjoyed or make sense if you are a friend of Imtiaz!

Got to know from Sayeed over the weekend that our dearest friend Imtiaz had sprained his neck. I felt really sorry for him as he had that problem before and also that he had to take a week off from work. Then I started thinking as to what must have caused this. I could only come up with the following reasons, if you know the exact reason then correct me.

Imtiaz bhai was going on a walk with bhabhi and suddenly a beautiful girl passed by. As usual he turned back to see her & suddenly realized that he was walking with his wife and instantly turned back causing the neck sprain.
The other thing can be bhabhi saw him glance at that girl and they had a big fight and you don't need me to tell you who wins when an husband and wife fight. For guys who are unmarried, in such a fight husband gets injured and if he is lucky he just ends up with a possible neck sprain.
Other than that, when India lost the world cup game against Bangladesh, the Indian players were not ashamed but Imtiaz bhai took this to heart and kept his head down in shame (being such an avid indian team fan) for a number of days and the result, ya u guessed it right neck sprain.
If not the above reason then may be when Sachin was dropped from the Indian squad for the Bangladesh series, he suddely lifted his head up (remember it was always down after India's defeat) and yelled, "Oh God please dont do this to Sachin" and because of the sudden jerk neck sprian!!
OR when Aishwarya decided to get married to Abhishek, Imtiaz bhai was shocked and he was shaking his head vigorously saying no no why is this happening. For those guys who dont know Imtiaz bhai when the world was feeling sorry for Aishwarya thinking she could have got a way better match than Abhishek, Imtiaz bhai was the only person in the world who thought that Abhishek would have got a better match than her. Obvioulsy he felt strongly about that and what happens when you shake your head vigorously to disagree with whats happening, oh ya a neck sprain.

I-140 approval

Another update. My I 140 was approved and it just took a month to get approved. So, all of you who are waiting for it, the processing is pretty fast.

August 25

LC Perm Approval

I got my labor certification approved today under PERM. I know its a small step but nevertheless a step closer to getting rid of H1 B mess.

Getting 1-140 which is the next step should also be pretty smooth InshaAllah but the real bottleneck is for the 3rd stage atleast for Indians as there is a lot of retrogression there.

The EB2 category is unavailable for India and as one of my friend Mudassir Latif said thats the price you pay for coming from a land where now a days in every household there is an engineer.

So guys pray that the law makers after fighting over for illegal immigrants do something for the law abiding, social security and tax paying community called LEGAL immigrants from India.
